A Melody with Embedded Harmonies
The public library is for me the most welcoming of portals to opportunity, sanctuary, adventure, experimentation, and discovery.
I like to think that very visit is a mystery filled adventure, and my explorations there sure to unearth combinations of ideas and images and processes never before thought of by human kind.
Cats may have already discovered these things, and maybe even other people, but definitely not me.
Every book, every song, every image moving or still, has to be interpreted and recreated in the memories of its audience. Their maker can only do so much.
This installation is a song, a story, a moving image, a puzzle, and a game.
I want it to represent everything I have ever enjoyed about my time spent not only in this library, but every other library I have happily spent time in.
I would prefer that its purpose and its narrative not be closed, clear, or easy to interpret.
Read it as you like.
